Cold and Blustery New Years Day

A very cold and windy day but thankfully dry. Well it was dry for some of us but not for SD1 & 2 and their friends as they went into the sea at noon today for a new years day dip to raise money for charity. Must be crazy. Went for that walk that we had to cancel yesterday and were blown about at The Ayres though I must say it was rather exhilarating. Was a bit saddened though as I've never seen so many dead seabirds as I saw today. There must have been well over a dozen, mainly shags but there were also a few gulls. The only thing that I can think of is that they were caught up in the severe storms that we've been having over the past few days. These are the same storms that had the Steam Packet cancel two of yesterdays Heysham sailings and todays Seacat sailing from Liverpool. Looks like we will be having empty shelves for the next few days then.......Thank you for all your kind wishes and I hope that you all have a healthy and prosperous 2007.
